Part of the way I’ve been able to move along as a man of color in America and Academia is partly not to give a damn how certain stories are perceived. The decision to share or not share is inherently yours, and I can appreciate the reasons. But the more we ask our other-race, other-background or other-culture colleagues to try, the more often we’ll become frustrated if the outcome isn’t what we expected.
