I love reading your work! I too am a man of color working in a predominantly white profession. I found it exhausting to carry the mantle of my race into each battle.

Were some racially motivated? Yes. I got confirmation from the source. Were some simply a difference of opinion or a simple matter of a person of another color not liking me? Yes.

While I'm proudly Hispanic, I am also proudly professional. I want my colleagues to see my contributions purely as coming from me, the worker, not a representation of a race.

I associate with the experiences you tell about in your posts. I just respectfully choose to assume that it's my words/face/fact that I wear sneakers with trousers that might lead to a different treatment from a different race - but ultimately, it's about my work and performance, first and foremost. It's kept me sane in the workplace!

Keep on keeping on. Looking forward to reading more from you.
